Arjun Rampal hopes to rock on with EMI

MUMBAI: Still flying high on the astounding success of his ‘Generation X’ flick ‘Rock On’, Arjun Rampal has his fingers crossed as he prays to repeat the magic with his second movie this year ‘EMI’. The film, that hits theatres the same day as the MI 2 agent James Bond returns for vengeance, has some tough competition to beat. Nevertheless, being of a comic genre, the film has the potential to catch the fancy of action haters.Starring Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Mallika Arora and Urmila Mantodkar in the main lead, the film is a goofball comedy about a man caught in the deadly web of Equated Monthly Installment (EMI).So what is the biggest USP of EMI?Well, it’s the story or so Rampal feels. So without further ado here’s taking a look as to what this movie is all about. The film is a take on modern day India. It takes a look at the lives of interconnecting characters coming from different strata of society. The story revolves around the life of a man who is spendthrift and a compulsive buyer. His mindless spending addiction gets him into situations he does not anticipate. The story has Arjun Rampal playing a compulsive shopper. Living life king size, his lifestyle is highly dependent on the concept of ‘EMI’. But just like any other addiction, Arjun too falls pray to loving the good life and soon fails to pay the EMIs.It’s then that the recovery agent ‘Sattar’ played by Sanjay Dutt comes into the picture. Sattar is the infamous recovery agent who runs the Good Luck Recovery Agency. Known for his nototrious goons who are sent to recover loans, Sattar is a hit among those who are looking at getting their money back. From 'bhaigiri' to business to social work and then politics, that is how Sattar has planned to move ahead in life. He has already gone from 'bhaigiri' to Business and now he wants to jump to politics.Living by the simple principle ‘loan liya hai to chukao’ and ‘shaadi ki hai toh nibhao’, Sattar is after Arjun to pay back the loan he took. The question is will Arjun give into Sattar’s demands.
