Zardari meets world leaders sideline of Interfaith summit


NEW YORK: President Asif Ali Zardari held meeting with world leaders including American foreign minister, Condoleezza Rice, Afghan President, Hamid Karzai and Saudi King Abdullah here on the sidelines of United Nations’ interfaith summit.In the press briefing by Foreign Minister, Shah Muhmood Qureshi informed that in the meeting President Zardari with Condoleezza Rice, President stressed need to provide aid to Pakistan to help country steer out the prevailing financial crisis.“International community should assist Pakistan if the world desires global peace,” he said.On the occasion Condoleezza Rice expressed formal views saying America would carry on its support to strengthen democracy in Pakistan adding that new president-elect Barak Obama would also pursue this policy besides playing his due role to boost US ties with Pakistan.Foreign minister said that in the combine meeting with King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia and Afghan President Hamid Karzai, President Zardari discuss matters of bilateral importance and ongoing process of peace initiative in Afghanistan.At the occasion Hamid Karzai said that Taliban who will ready to surrender would be considered to engage in talks
