ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Youth Affairs would confer `Benazir Sheheed Volunteer Awards' on persons having tremendous record in humanity or social service, and whose dates of birth would coincide with that of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed. The awards being announced on December 27 on the first anniversary ofMohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed would be conferred on January 1 next year,Minister for Youth Affairs Shahid Hussain Bhutto said while chairing a meeting at National Volunteer Movement here Thursday. Upto four persons each from all four provinces would be selected for the award that also features medals, certificates and cash prizes. Besides, three persons would also be picked each from Northern Areas, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Islamabad Capital Territory. A committee headed by Secretary Youth Affairs would be formed to scrutinise the application. Speaking on the occasion, the minister paid glowing tributes to Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for her meritorious services for country, people and democracy. "Mohtarma Shaheed sacrificed her life for the cause of democracy," he maintained.
