Manmohan terms Pakistan epicenter of terrorism

NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh alleged on Thursday that Pakistan was the "epicenter" of global terrorism and the world needed to deal with it "sternly and effectively"."We have to galvanize the international community into dealing sternly and effectively with the epicenter of terrorism which is located in Pakistan," he said in a speech heard in silence in the Lok Sabha and on live television across the country."The infrastructure of terrorism has to be dismantled permanently. This is for the good of the entire world community including the well being of the people of Pakistan themselves," he said at the end of a day-long debate on the Mumbai terror attacks in parliament."We have noted the reported steps taken by Pakistan but clearly much more needs to be done," Prime Minister Manmohan Singh told parliament.Manmohan also apologized to the country for the government's inability to prevent the Mumbai attacks and vowed to gear up the security apparatus to prevent recurrence of such incidents.Ironically, Leader of Opposition L K Advani had also described Pakistan as the "epicenter of terrorism" in his speech earlier in the day.
