National Security Conference today


ISLAMABAD: A top-level National Security Conference in view of the Mumbai attacks and taking forward the consultation process for national integrity and solidarity will be held today.Leaders and representatives of all the major political parties of the country will attend the meeting, reported ARY OneWorld.The conference will be held at 2:00 pm at Prime Minister House. In this connection, invitation letters have been dispatched to all leaders of all political parties.Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani will inform the participants of the conference about the efforts being made by the government to defuse the tension created by allegations leveled by India against Pakistan in the aftermath of the Mumbai terror attacks.The conference has been convened by the prime minister to create consensus on national security issues. In all, 58 leaders of political parties, both inside and outside parliament, including the Pakhtoon and Baloch nationalists, have been invited.Director General ISI Maj. Gen Shuja Pasha, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtiar and federal secretaries for interior and foreign affairs have also been invited in the moot and are likely to brief the participants on current scenario.
