Zardari’s Visit to Afghanistan Canceled Because of Bad Weather

Dec. 19 (Bloomberg) -- Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari’s visit to Afghanistan today was canceled because of bad weather, a foreign ministry official said.
Zardari plans to hold anti-terrorism talks with his counterpart Hamid Karzai and may fly to Kabul later, said Nadeem Hotiana, a public relations officer for the Islamabad-based ministry. The leaders are seeking to devise a strategy to combat Taliban fighters along their mountainous border.
The two nations are trying to improve ties strained by the Karzai administration’s accusations that Pakistani security agencies under former president and army chief Pervez Musharraf backed the Taliban insurgency. Karzai attended Zardari’s swearing-in ceremony in September after Musharraf’s resignation.
