Pak Army suspends building new GHQ

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Army announced Tuesday to suspend the project of building new General Headquarters (GHQ) in Islamabad due to economic turmoil in the country. According to an announcement of ISPR, the project of new GHQ’s construction in Islamabad was suspended on the directives of Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani.The decision was made in view of the current financial crisis being faced by the country, said the statement adding that Pak Army stands with the nation at this hard time to sacrifice for economic stability.The project of worth billions of rupees was initiated by past president and former chief of army staff General (retd.) Pervez Musharraf and was widely criticized by the political forces.
