Bannu attack: protest lodged with US envoy


ISLAMABAD: Pakistan authorities formally lodged protest with US ambassador to Pakistan Anne W Patterson over US strikes inside Pakistani territories.Talking to the US envoy at Foreign Office, Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir said these US attack are doing nothing but add to complexities of Pakistani government, adding the objectives of War on Terror cannot be achieved through these attacks.However, US ambassador said it is US government which takes likes of decisions. It should be mentioned that Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior A. Rehman Malik earlier told Pakistani legislators that US envoy to Pakistan has been summoned to lodge with her the protest against US attack in Bannu, which killed at least five people.State minister Malak Imad said the US ambassador would be called today in office to protest against Bannu missile attack.Leader of the House Mian Raza Rabbani said the US ambassador has twice been called earlier, addling the government is bring forth a new effective policy.Raza Rabbani said the house would be taken in confidence on any new government move on the issue.The state minister Imad said US would be apprised of Pakistani concerns regarding US missile attacks on Pakistani soil.
